The non-partisan APA political action committee also endorses Mike Woo in the City Council 13th District contest.

The LA 80-20 PAC, a non-partisan Asian Pacific American political action committee, on May 14 announced its endorsement of Jim Hahn for Los Angeles Mayor in the elections of June 5.

LA 80-20 PAC also endorsed Mike Woo in the City Council 13th District race, Diane Watson in the 32nd Congressional District contest, and Dennis Zine for the Third City Council District seat.

LA 80-20 PAC is dedicated to working for equality and justice for all Americans including Asian Pacific Americans, and to working together on mutual interests and issues that affect APA rights as American citizens, as guaranteed by the Bill of Rights and the U.S. Constitution.

According to LA 80-20 PAC, the endorsements were based on objective analysis of the individual candidates, independent of their respective races. The LA 80-20 board votes their endorsements based on the candidates’ respective qualifications and commitment to Asian Pacific American empowerment.


FOR BETTER TREATMENT OF IMMIGRANTS AND A NEW LEGALIZATION PROGRAM:

In commemoration of International Worker Day- May 1st- a diverse range of community, labor, religious and student organizations hold a march and rally with speakers and cultural performances to call for a new immigrant legalization program and to celebrate the ethnic diversity of Los Angeles. About 2000 demonstrators marched along the Wilshire Boulevard and Alvarado Street. The event was organized by Multi-ethnic Immigrant Workers Organizing Network (MIWON), A multi ethnic collaborative of the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles (CHIRLA), Korean Immigrant Workers Advocates (KIWA), and Philipino Workers Center (PWC) in conjunction with community leaders, religious groups, and organized labor.
