With strong Santa Ana winds sweeping through Southern California, a large wildfire in Ventura County has destroyed dozens of homes and is now threatening more than 3,500 structures. As fire danger escalates, power has been cut to over 65,000 homes across Southern California.

According to Cal Fire, one wildfire ignited in Los Angeles County and another in Ventura County on the 6th, both of which are still active. The fire near Camarillo in Ventura County, in particular, has rapidly expanded, fueled by high winds, and has burned approximately 20,000 acres within a single day.

Ventura County Fire Department reports that the blaze, named the "Mountain Fire," has crossed the 118 Freeway, posing a threat to the Camarillo Heights area. Despite efforts to contain the fire using around 800 personnel and helicopters, the dry Santa Ana winds continue to hinder containment efforts. The fire currently threatens approximately 3,500 homes, businesses, and other structures, prompting evacuation orders for 10,000 residents. As of the afternoon of the 7th, the fire has consumed 19,643 acres and is reported to have 0% containment. Meanwhile, in the northwest coastal area of Malibu in Los Angeles County, a separate wildfire has spread across 50 acres, destroying two buildings to date.
